My Amazing Class Trip Term 4

Who? Twp 5, Miss Nees (our teacher), parent helpers, and Chelsea Factory People.

What? Experience and had a tour around the factory, baked some cookies, and did a quiz.

When? On Monday the 2nd of November 2020.

Where? Chelsea Sugar Factory, Birkenhead Auckland New Zealand.

Why? For our learning something new like a skill that we did and to have fun!

How? We went on a bus to the Chelsea Sugar Factory.

Story - On Monday the 2nd of November my class and I went to the Chelsea Sugar Factory. Where they make different kinds of sugar, maple syrup, and other baking needs.

We went to the Sugar Factory. It was a part of our learning experience.

In the morning the bus arrived. Jabez's mum and Angeline's mum helped our teacher Miss Nees look after us. When we arrived at the Chelsea factory we went into the visitor room. Inside the visitor's room staff member Lauren introduced us to her co-workers.

We split into 2 groups, there was the Orange group and the Pink group. The pink group was the first group to have a tour around the factory. The orange group, which I was in, was the first group to bake. I was so excited!

Three staff members were looking after us. Jo was the baking instructor. When I walked into the baking room. The ingredients on the table smelt so good it smelt like vanilla essence and sugar, I loved that smell. Jo told us we were baking cookies. We had to partner up and I picked Monique. Secondly, Jo explained to us what we had to do. Her and Amihuti demonstrated how to make cookies. After that, we washed our hands and went to our tables. The ingredients were already on the table. We had to wear an apron.

First I put in the ingredient which was butter mixture, brown sugar and white sugar. When we put the ingredients in the bowl we mixed vanilla essence and flour. It turned into dough which Monique and I put on the spoon. We put clumps of cookie dough on our tray. We put it in the oven for 25 minutes.

While we waited for our cookies to bake. Jo told us we could get a plastic container to place our cookies in. We decorated our plastic containers with felts.

When our cookies were baked I was amazed and they looked very tasty. Monique and I baked 14 cookies so we split them up, 7 each. I put my cookies into my container.

We went back to our visitor room and met the Pink group. They said they had tasted syrup and went on a small pink train. It was now time for our tour of the Chelsea Factory.

We saw Tatum and Lauren who told us to wear hairnets and helmets. Tatum played a video to watch before we had our tour. The video was about how to keep safe and what we were going to see and experience. When the video finished we went outside. The pink train was waiting for us!

The train was so cool and I loved it! We stopped at the shipment dock. We learned a fact about how a ship comes every 6 weeks and takes 5 days to unload the raw sugar. Next we went inside the sugar process room. We wore safety goggles. The factory was so hot and it smelled like very raw, sweet sugar. We went back to the train. Which took us to see where the big mountains of sugar were kept. I was so amazed, it looked like a mountain that could cover two rugby fields!

Later we went to the Syrup room. I saw a lot of syrup flavors on the syrup table. We got to taste the Syrup. Before we tasted the syrup we had to watch a short film about how syrup is produced. We then got to taste it, my favorite syrup was the Vanilla flavor. We traveled on the train back to the visitors room.

We went to our last stop which was the Interactive Zone. The Interactive Zone is a place where you can color drawings and play baking on a screen. We were given a quest, we had to fill in a Wordsearch and a Q&A about the Chelsea factory. We could see answers by reading the boards on the walls. My score was 5/10. At lunchtime, I ate my cookies and they were so delicious! We saw the pink group still baking cookies. At the end of the day we met up as a class. It was time to go home. I was quite sad to leave, but I'd love to visit another time.

In the scripture Luke: 39 - 56 Mary visited her cousin Elizabeth. At that time Mary got ready and hurried to a town in the hill country of Judea, she went to visit Elizabeth to find out whether the angel Gabriel was right or wrong,  about Mary having her son Jesus. Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. We know this because in the scripture it says ‘’the baby leaped in her womb’’.

Stories about Mary - Luke: 26-38

 Stories about Mary

Luke: 26-38 Birth of Jesus Foretold

Introduction - Today In RE I read the scripture Luke: 26-38 The Birth of Jesus foretold the scripture was about Mary, Gabriel (angel) and much more. I read this story and then I wrote the main information about it.

WALT- Identify the major events in Mary's Life and Locate Scripture stories that describe the major events in Mary's life.

Luke: 26-38 The Birth of Jesus foretold Wednesday 18 November

___________________________________________________________________________

This reading is mainly about how the Angel Gabriel came across Mary and told her

“The Lord is with you, do not be afraid”

The Angel Gabriel also told her that she was going to be married to Joseph and how she was also going to be a Mother to Jesus '‘The Son of Most High”.

Angel Gabriel was sent by God to tell her the     news.

_

Mary was confused because she didn’t know how this could happen because she is a virgin. The Angel said to her “..the Holy Spirit’s power will overshadow you...”

Mary was weary of this angel because she was virgin; she didn't understand or know until the angel blessed her. She then believed it and was happy she was going to have a son.

_

Lastly the scripture tells us that Mary believes the angels' words and she then becomes a servant of God. We know this because “Then Mary said, “Here am I, the servant of the Lord; let it be with me according to your word.” Then the angel departed from her.”
